Cause Edit

The Northridge Earthquake was caused mainly by a previously-undiscovered strike-slip fault in Reseda, which were the type of faults that caused the Sylmar earthquake. These faults cannot be found unless an earthquake is produced by one, making it much more stressful for geologists as there could be a large number of other faults in the San Fernando Valley that have been undiscovered. it was a destructive plate

After-effects Edit

The San Fernando Valley was severely damaged from the earthquake due to a high number of buildings failing to meet earthquake standards. The San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles itself lost its TV signals and radio signals from the earthquake, but came back online later for coverage. There were a few gas ruptures that had to be taken care of. Freeways were extremely damaged and could not be driven on (the Ronald Reagan Freeway was badly damaged around the border of the San Fernando Valley and Simi Valley.

After the earthquake, buildings were put on strict building codes to protect them in the event of another severe earthquake, and structures and buildings were given seismic force resisting systems.
