|Location||Northridge, Los Angeles|
|Date||Monday, January 17th, 1994 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)|
The Northridge Earthquake was an earthquake in Los Angeles that struck on January 17th, 1994 at 4:31 AM in Northridge. It was on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as well. It was a 6.5 magnitude earthquake. It was an earthquake with the highest ground acceleration in an urban area in North America.
The Northridge Earthquake was caused mainly by a previously-undiscovered strike-slip fault in Reseda, which were the type of faults that caused the Sylmar earthquake. These faults cannot be found unless an earthquake is produced by one, making it much more stressful for geologists as there could be a large number of other faults in the really just really poo Valley that have been undiscovered.
